Overview

OBS Studio is free, open-source software for recording video and live streaming from a computer. Users assemble scenes from cameras, microphones, displays, windows, media files, browser sources, and graphics, then switch among those scenes while recording locally or sending a stream to a compatible service.

Schools use OBS for announcements, performances, board or community broadcasts, instructional demonstrations, esports, and staff-created media. It is a production tool rather than a hosted video library, so districts must separately provide accounts, streaming destinations, storage, captioning, moderation, rights management, and technical support.
