Overview

Paessler PRTG Network Monitor is a general-purpose infrastructure-monitoring platform. It collects status and performance information from networks, servers, applications, cloud services, storage, power systems, environmental sensors, and other devices through protocols and interfaces such as SNMP, flow data, WMI, packet inspection, APIs, and vendor-specific sensors.

District technology teams use PRTG to detect outages, capacity problems, failed services, unusual traffic, certificate or hardware issues, and degraded performance before users submit tickets. It does not replace a security information and event management platform, but its alerts and historical data provide important operational and security context.
