Product Details

Overview

ScanSnap is a family of compact document scanners and companion software produced by PFU, a Ricoh company. District staff can use supported models to turn paper documents, receipts, cards, photographs, and forms into digital files and route those files to local folders, email, or supported cloud services.

ScanSnap helps at the capture stage but is not an enterprise document-management system. It does not by itself provide a governed district repository, retention program, department-wide workflow, or records-management controls, so it belongs in a Document Scanning / Hardware category rather than Document Management.

Features
One-touch scanning
  • Scans single- or double-sided paper through compact desktop and mobile models.
  • Uses automatic image settings intended to reduce manual scanner configuration.

  • Performs functions such as de-skewing, blank-page removal, rotation, color detection, and searchable PDF creation where supported.
  • Improves captured documents before they are filed or sent onward.
ScanSnap Home
  • Organizes scans and manages scanner profiles through current companion software.
  • Can identify common document types and extract basic information from supported content.
Destination routing
  • Sends files to local folders, email, applications, and supported cloud destinations.
  • Can serve as an input device for a separate district document-management platform.
