Product Details

Overview

Lightspeed Classroom is a cloud-based classroom-management system that gives teachers real-time visibility into student activity on Chromebooks, Windows, and Mac devices. Teachers can view screens and open tabs, identify off-task browsing, restrict web access, close tabs, lock screens, and send links or messages without interrupting instruction.

The product is designed to manage digital learning during an active class rather than to inventory, configure, repair, or replace Chromebook fleets. Its grouping, co-teaching, class-merging, engagement summaries, and AI-activity notifications help educators focus students and respond when device use becomes a barrier to learning.

Features
Live classroom visibility
  • Shows the class in a screen or list view and lets a teacher examine an individual student's current activity.
  • Surfaces open tabs, recent activity, unusual browsing, and class-level engagement information in supported environments.
Focus and web controls
  • Locks screens, closes distracting tabs, limits the number of open tabs, and applies allow or block rules during class.
  • Sends a link to one student, a group, or the full class to move learners to the correct resource quickly.
Communication and instruction
  • Supports teacher-to-student messaging and screen sharing for demonstrations, feedback, and redirection.
  • Creates differentiated groups with separate web rules or curriculum links and supports co-teachers and merged class sections.
Class insights and oversight
  • Provides daily highlights such as frequently accessed sites, engagement patterns, and suggested block-list additions.
  • Can notify teachers about student access to AI-related sites and record selected screen activity for documentation.
District controls
  • Lets administrators deploy classroom management at scale and determine whether monitoring may occur off campus.
  • Districts should set clear policies for monitoring scope, student notice, staff access, recordings, retention, and appropriate use.

When teachers use Lightspeed Classroom Management™  it allows them to keep their students logged in, participating, and focused both in-person or at a distance. Advanced AI technology gives teachers real-time visibility and control of their students’ digital workspaces and online activity.  Educators can safely message a distracted student, redirect their browser, close windows and tabs, and enable screen sharing for collaboration between students.

Hierarchical permissions allow district administrators to set restrictions and give teachers the ability to establish further online boundaries for their students. With Lightspeed Classroom Management, educators and administrators are alerted to unusual or inappropriate online activity and can record live browsing behaviors for more productive interventions.

Effective, equitable learning
Lightspeed Classroom Management gives students access to an effective and equitable learning environment. Students can access instructional materials inside the classroom or outside the classroom for remote learning. There is a hand raising feature that allows all students a chance to ask questions or add their thoughts to a learning discussion. SIS integration simplifies roster syncing and automates real-time updates so educators and administrators have up-to-date visibility into student attendance and engagement.

Educators can now launch Lightspeed Classroom Management directly within Microsoft Teams, giving them the ability to deliver synchronous or asynchronous instruction and materials without leaving the Teams platform. Teachers maintain full access to Lightspeed Classroom Management tools to gain visibility into students’ workspaces, set custom browsing rules, engage with students directly, and share lesson URLs to ensure equal access to the materials for every student, all in one spot.
