Edmodo updates student data privacy policy.
Edmodo updated their privacy policy. A lot of other K-12 software companies are adopting the general policies required by the European Union's General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). How does this impact US schools, if at all?
Below is the text sent via email today from Edmodo:
Hi there,
Our goal is to make sure that you love using Edmodo. Part of that is giving you the best possible experience as you use our service today, tomorrow, and in the future. We believe it's critical to protect your privacy as part of that experience. We also want to be as transparent as possible about the personal data that we collect and use to provide this service to you.
That's why we're reaching out to you. The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is in effect, and as a result, we've made some changes to our Privacy Policy.
We have always aimed to provide you with clear and simple information about the personal information we collect and use, as well as how we protect your data. We've implemented some enhancements to our Privacy Policy. What's different? We've clarified a few items and provided more information about the following:
- Your privacy rights and how to exercise them;
- How we collect, use, share, and protect your personal data; and
- The legal bases for Edmodo to process information from EU residents.
Please review our updated Privacy Policy, which is effective as of May 25, 2018.
As always, if you have any questions or suggestions about how we can improve Edmodo or our Privacy Policy, please let us know by contacting our Support Team.
Thanks for using Edmodo. We appreciate your continued support!
Warm regards,
The Edmodo Team
